I am a humanist who believes that with digital machines we can do new kinds of research into the human experience of the past and present. I lead the activities of the Digital Humanities at The Open University group and of the Arts and Humanities in the Digital Age training programme for the students of CHASE doctoral training partnership. I am a member of the Reading Experience Database project. My research interests (digital) are digital editions, stylometry and textual analysis; (non-digital) Irish poet Thomas Moore and the history of reading
